Licensure is governed by state boards. Each state has its own unique licensure requirements, including passing a written exam and completing post-degree hours of supervised counseling experience.
Students are responsible for knowing the current requirements for the state or states in which they intend to practice.
A few states have restrictions on licensure application for those with degrees earned through online programs.
