Choosing a Concentration
At Baptist Bible College, choosing a concentration in your master’s program lets you tailor your academic experiences to meet your specific goals.
The 30 credit-hour Master of Education degree prepares you to grow your ministry and teaching career.
All classes are offered in a unique summer-module format. Some are also available in a distance-learning format. Courses are scheduled on a rotating basis. This allows you to earn your degree in as little as three summers.
Reading Specialist Concentration
This program will enable you to provide specialized reading instruction to students in kindergarten through grade 12.
You will learn to evaluate a student’s special needs and develop an appropriate plan for reading instruction.
You will be equipped with the current best practices and methodology. A comprehensive project over the last half of your studies will tie together your learning experiences.
Meeting a Need
As a student in the Reading Specialist concentration, you will become better able to connect with students who may feel frustrated and alienated because of a reading or writing weakness. Reaching these students will open vast opportunities they may not have found otherwise.
Concentration Courses
This concentration includes a core biblical and academic base.
- Literature for Children and Adolescents
- Best Practices in the Teaching of Reading
- Teaching Strategies for Reading in the Content Areas
- Diagnostic Evaluation of Reading Problems

- Reading Clinical Experience
After the Tassel
When you graduate from Baptist Bible College, you will be better equipped to provide your students with the confidence and understanding they need to succeed.
Because the program emphasizes theory and research skills, you will graduate with the basis for pursuing postgraduate studies.
The culmination of the course is a clinical experience that requires you to demonstrate your competency working with K-12 students possessing reading difficulties. It also serves as practical experience that will give you the confidence you need to become an even more effective teacher in this area.
