BBC&S RAISES OVER $150,000 AT SECOND GOLF-A-THON!
Twenty-five golfer-caddy teams arrived at Tee It Up for Students on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Stone Hedge Golf Course near Tunkhannock, PA, in an effort to raise money for students preparing for ministry careers at Baptist Bible College, Graduate School, and Seminary. The day started with breakfast at 6:30 a.m., and was full of golfing, fun, and a great satisfaction that golfers, caddies, trustees, students, and President Jim Jeffery raised over $150,000. The day ended with a celebratory dinner and awards at The Inn at Nichols Village.
The award recipients included:
Closest to the Pin (front nine) – Chaplain Dan Middlebrooks
Closest to the Pin (back nine) – Bob Allen
Longest Drive (front nine) – Chaplain Cliff Morales
Longest Drive (back nine) – Nate Logan
Golfer-Caddy Team with Most Holes – Steve Clark & Rob Hammaker (181 holes)
What is a Golf-a-thon?
It is a day-long event where participants golf as many holes as possible, usually a minimum of 100. A few special rules make this possible:
- Golfers score no worse than three strokes over par on any hole.
- Each golfer has his/her own caddy and cart.
A Golf-a-thon is an exciting and creative way to dramatically benefit Baptist Bible College & Seminary students by providing an opportunity for people to raise money that directly benefits students studying for ministry.
