Local son comes home
Dr. David Lackey received an encouraging surprise Tuesday when his son, CPL Eric Lackey, paid him and his wife, Betty, a visit. He is on an 18-day leave from Iraq.
CPL Lackey planned the visit with his sister, Amanda, who met him at the airport on Tuesday. They then dropped in on Dr. Lackey while he was teaching an Old Testament Prophets class.
“Don’t tell your mother you saw me first,” joked Dr. Lackey. Betty Lackey joined the group about 15 minutes later.
The Lackeys plan on attending an NFL or Major League Soccer game during his stay. Relatives of the Lackeys will be traveling up from Tennessee in September. He is also making a point to visit local friends who have been faithfully praying for him.
CPL Lackey is currently stationed in Baquba, Iraq, 50 miles northeast of Baghdad. He has been there since April and expects to continue at least another 12 months.
CPL Lackey is in the US Army 38th Regiment, 2nd Division, Rogue Scouts Platoon. |
