Show named Athletics Director at BBC
Veteran men's basketball coach Mike Show has been named Athletics Director at Baptist Bible College. The appointment is effective September 1.
Show has been head men's basketball coach of the BBC Defenders since 1994 and assistant athletic director since 2004. He succeeds Jim Huckaby, who will retire at the end of August after 38 years at BBC. Huckaby brought Show on as an assistant coach in 1993 before turning the men's basketball team over to him in 1994.
Show is looking forward to the challenge of his new role.
"I am excited to reinforce what Coach Huckaby has set as a foundation, that athletics can be used as a ministry not only in the lives of our students but the athletes we compete against," he said.
As a coach with 14 years experience, Show will have experience to draw from in BBC's dual affiliation in athletics. In 2006, he took his team to the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II National Championship game. In 2008, the Defenders enjoyed their first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament for men's basketball.
In addition to the challenges of a new role, Show will lead his administrative team into a new conference in 2008-09 as the Defenders join the Colonial States Athletic Conference (formerly known as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference). They enter the CSAC with two familiar rivals; one in nearby Keystone College and Philadelphia Biblical University, from the NCCAA II.

These changes add up to opportunity this fall season, which opens with five sports competing on August 29. It will be a season of reflection toward years past and excitement for the ministry God will provide ahead.
In the midst of change, Huckaby sees a promising road ahead for BBC Defender Athletics.
"God has given me peace about the changes here," he said. "I think the Athletics Department is going to greatly benefit from Mike's heart and incredible hard work ethic. He will add not only new insight to do things better, but energy to get it done."
Huckaby was instrumental in many areas at Baptist Bible. Along with his strong involvement in the NCCAA, he led the way in the formation of Defender summer sports camps at BBC, bringing Defender Athletics into the NCAA III, and in the organization of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, where BBC formerly competed.
Huckaby will embrace the opportunity to spend more time with family and greater involvement at Heritage Baptist Church where he is a member. He will also continue in a consultant role with at BBC.
