Online courses set for new degree program
Graduate-level classes in Bible teaching, counseling and the Christian faith will be offered in an online format through Baptist Bible Graduate School beginning in January.
The three-credit classes are designed as components of the new Master of Science in Biblical Ministries degree. The 30 credit-hour program can be completed in a total distance learning format. Requirements let students earn the degree in as little as three years without relocating to the BBGS Clarks Summit campus and tailor classes to their specific needs and goals.
The MSBM degree is perfect for ministry professionals who use varied skills everyday. It requires a core of theological courses but gives students the freedom to choose electives from a wide range of ministry applications. It also equips committed local church workers with skills to serve as more effective lay leaders.
Courses in Bible, ministry skills, education, counseling and leadership development will shape students for more effective ministry. The online courses offered in January are:
Contours of the Christian Faith teaches a method for understanding and interpreting the Bible. It teaches students how to grasp the author’s intended meaning and understand doctrines which form the contours of the Christian faith. This is a required course for the MSBM degree.
Biblical Assessment of Counseling Theory focuses on recent trends in secular and Christian counseling. It gives students skills in evaluating theories of counseling and psychology and builds critical thinking skills. This is an elective course.
Principles of Bible Teaching gives students a practical overview of the purpose of Bible teaching. It helps students understand the distinctiveness of Bible teaching, develop practical skills for effectively and creatively communicating it, and design appropriate Bible sessions for any age group. This is an elective course. Read more about this course.
Online classes begin the week of January 14. For details, contact Barry Phillips at bphillips@bbc.edu or 570.585.9347. You may read more at www.bbc.edu/graduate/biblical_ministries.asp
