BBC joins Pennsylvania Athletic Conference

Baptist Bible College has accepted an invitation to join the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) beginning in the 2008-09 academic year.

BBC will become the 12th full-time institution member of the conference and will join nearby Keystone College and Marywood University.

"We are thrilled with the news," said Jim Jeffery, president of Baptist Bible College & Seminary. "We look forward to our new alliance, which will allow us to provide great athletic programs for our students."

Members of the North Eastern Athletic Conference since 2004, the Defenders captured six conference championships and made a trip to the NCAA III National Championships in women's volleyball.

Baptist Bible looks forward to the new opportunities and advantages the PAC will provide.

"The PAC is more of a regional conference that is geographically located in a closer proximity to BBC than the NEAC schools," said Athletic Director Jim Huckaby. "This will assist us in reducing missed classes, greatly expedite opportunities for rescheduling contests, allow later fall contests and earlier spring contests due to geographical locations and reduce traveling issues during winter months."

The conference formally extended an invitation to BBC Wednesday. BBC will join Cabrini College, Cedar Crest College, Centenary College, College of Notre Dame (MD), Gwynedd-Mercy College, Immaculata University, Keystone College, Marywood University, Neumann College, Philadelphia Biblical University and Rosemont College.

The Defenders compete in men's and women's cross country, basketball, and soccer. They also field teams in baseball, golf, softball and women's volleyball and tennis.
