Former BBC&S president passes away

Dr. Harold Commons, a former president of Baptist Bible College & Seminary, died July 21. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28. He was 101.

Dr. Commons was the president of BBC&S from 1933–35. Student residence hall, Commons Hall, is named in his honor.

During his presidency, he was known for his compassion and humility. He exhibited this by often washing the dishes after being invited for dinner.

Dr. Commons left BBC&S to assume the presidency of the Association of Baptists for the Evangelization in the Orient, later named the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. He served as ABWE president for 35 years.

Baptist Bible College & Seminary extends its consolations to the family and friends of Dr. Commons and rejoices that he is now with the Lord he loved so dearly.
