Community Appreciation Day

Community Appreciation Day

Community Appreciation DayOn Tuesday, October 31, students, faculty, and staff from Baptist Bible College & Seminary spread throughout the College’s surrounding communities to show their appreciation in a practical way. For this Community Appreciation Day, members of the BBC family served local businesses and residents in various fall-related chores from raking leaves to planting trees.

This year’s slogan was “Break Out,” which encouraged students to give back to the community as a ministry.

Many students raked lawns in several residential areas surrounding the College’s campus. A number of homeowners approached the workers to ask why they were doing service without asking for anything in return. Student Brian Blais summates the students’ motives this way: “The Bible talks about being kind and showing every consideration for all men. I think it's a good thing for the school to fulfill this biblical mandate. It's good to show the community that we have a kind Master by being kind.”

One community member expressed appreciation in an email to BBC&S President Jim Jeffery and said: “Your students made such an impression upon me today, and I wanted to write you to let you know. You are certainly encouraging thoughtful and kind behavior in you students. Thank you so much.”
