Summer Ministry Teams at BBC

Summer vacation brings with it several unique ministry opportunities for Baptist Bible College students. This summer, BBC has assembled three summer ministry teams: Lifeguard, Frontline, and the Summer Crew.

Lifeguard and Frontline will be traveling throughout the central and northeastern states, serving at several summer camps such as New Life Island, Camp Bayouca, Camp Patmos, and Twin Lakes Camp. They will be counseling, leading worship services, teaching, working as a part of the camp program, and even doing some maintenance and cleaning.

Both teams stressed that their major goal is to show Christ though their ministry. Lifeguard leader Tim George said, “We just want to impact kids for Christ. We want them to be able to see Who God is.” Frontline leader Bob Carr added, “It's important that we come together as a team. Oh yeah, we want to have a fun time, too.”

The Summer Crew, which will stay on campus for the summer, also stressed the importance of teamwork. Stefan Biggs heads up the team of six. He said, “We are all very different people, each with our own strengths and weaknesses. We need to learn how best to maximize our strong points.” The Crew's primary duties will include cleaning the dormitories between camps and conferences, but they will also be helping the Maintenance department remodel Fletcher Hall, doing some landscaping, and working in the Underground Café.

The teams are eager to see how God is going to work in their lives as He gives them the opportunity to minister in the lives of others. Bob Carr said, “We are not just ministering to campers. We are also ministering to each other.”
