Campus Appreciation Day

Campus Appreciation Day

While saying farewell to winter usually means warmer weather and blossoming flowers, the coming of spring also means spring-cleaning. On Thursday, April 27, BBC students were given the day off from classes to rake, mulch, and weed the campus.

The spring cleanup began at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning as students grabbed their rakes, buckets, and shovels and headed to their designated areas. The day turned out to be sunny and warm, and the work went by quickly. Faculty member Mr. Boykin, who was a group leader for the day, commented on the speed of the students: “We’ve done a lot of work, everybody just works so fast!”

All over the campus, students could be seen raking, mulching, and weeding. With hands full of mulch and dirt, junior Tim Morris stated, “When you work next to someone who is working hard, it makes you work harder.” As the campus received a makeover, sophomore Erika Johnson and junior Emily Bouton stopped to reflect upon the change in the campus. “It’s nice to see the transformation over just a few hours,” Bouton said. “A lot of people came out to help,” Johnson added.

Mr. Konzelman, a member of the Maintenance department, commented, “The staff of the Maintenance department really appreciates all the hard work the students put into cleaning up our campus. They’ve done a beautiful job.”
