Senior high students learn, grow through outreach week
A special five-day April event drew more than 60 high school students and youth workers to the BBC campus for training, connecting, and daily off-campus opportunities to reach others in communities large and small.
"Radiate" offered practical instruction from qualified and experienced speakers for developing ministry and outreach skills, challenging and motivating messages from God's Word, interaction with BBC's missions and ministry-focused students, and daily hands-on evangelistic training in a variety of cross-cultural settings.
"I learned so much this past week," said Haley Seboe, a high school senior from Northmoreland, PA. "We were also able to implement what we learned in some real-life missions trips. We did service projects in a small town church, saw what God is doing at Restored Church in Wilkes-Barre, and handed out business cards for Mosaic Church in Brooklyn, NY. God taught me so much over the five days, and I am so excited to take what I've learned and put it into action."
John Schairer, a high school senior from Clay, NY, agreed.
"It was amazing and has really been a blessing," he said. "I really liked the trips, and it feels like you draw closer to God when you're surrounded by Christians who have the same passions that you do."

The April 2014 program was the second annual Radiate event. Organizers say the event accomplished its goal of seeing students excited about their faith and passionate to share it.
""Most of the young people already had a desire to reach out to their own friends and in their own communities, but it was thrilling to see how their interest and motivation to make an even greater impact for eternity grew as they participated in the training workshops and practical outreach events we planned for them," said Mel Walker, Vice President for Enrollment & External Relations at BBC&S.
"Our goal is that these students can take what they learned here and replicate these strategies when they get back home. We praise the Lord for how He used this event to work in and through the lives of the teens that participated."
The event was a benefit for those who brought students, too.
"Radiate was what I had hoped it would be: good training and preparation for the teens and opportunities for them to minister," said Brandon McAfee, Pastor of Young Adult Ministries at First Baptist Church of Avoca, NY and a 1997 BBC graduate. "The teens and adults had a chance to talk with each other about opportunities and open doors they have had to share the gospel. "
Some students in attendance earned college credit for their participation. Details on credit-earning experiences are available from BBC Admissions at 800.451.7664 or email@example.com for details.
