'Celebration' features building dedication, connections

A week-long event this fall is set to welcome alumni and families to the BBC&S campus for homecoming activities and the annual Bible conference.

Set for October 7-12, "Celebration on the Summit" includes alumni gatherings, Defender soccer and volleyball games, and guest ventriloquist David Pendleton for a unique comedy event.

Homecoming & Family Day
The new Recreation Center will be dedicated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12. The state-of-the-art facility features a one-ninth-mile track, three basketball courts, exercise, cardio and aerobic rooms, and a stage. There are also tastefully furnished gathering areas, classrooms, and major office spaces.

An open house for the 62,000-square-foot building -- the largest construction project in BBC&S history -- will run throughout the day.

Several other features mark this special day, including:
-Block Party Activities, featuring a mix of food, beverages, and events
-Defender Athletics, with soccer and volleyball games
-Special Family Day evening program


Alumni Day
BBC&SGuest artist ventriloquist David Pendleton and his band of unique characters will provide both laughter and a life-altering message on Friday night at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available online.

Alumni Awards will be presented at a noon luncheon. Those honored include Dr. Cheryl Fawcett (75), a missionary with ABWE, as Alumnus of the Year. Outstanding Service Awards will be given to retired pastor John Frey (73), ABWE missionary Kristi Walker (00), and BBC Professor Dr. Dennis Wilhite (74).

Other Friday events include:
-Meet & Greet, offering time for fellowship and reconnecting
-Class Reunions for 1963, 1973, 1983, 1988, 1993, 2003, and 2008 graduates.


Bible Conference
"Gospel-Stamped Lives" is the theme of the annual Bible Conference, set to begin Monday, October 7 and run the entire week.

Speakers include Rev. Ken Floyd, Executive Director of the Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches; Dr. David Mappes, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology & Bible Exposition at BBS; and Ron Berrus, Lead Pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown, PA.

Conference sessions run across the week at various times.
