New Recreation Center now in use

A new Recreation Center on the BBC&S campus is now open.

Chapel, conferences, camps, and major events like graduation will benefit from the new facility. BBC&S also plans to use the facility to benefit the surrounding community in a variety of ways.

The first large-scale use of the facility came during Defender Basketball Camp the last week of June.

"We're very excited," said BBC&S President Jim Jeffery. "Students this fall will enjoy a range of recreational opportunities and new student and free-space areas. It changes both the look and the possibilities of campus."

BBC&SInside the Building
This state-of-the-art facility features an indoor, one-ninth-mile track, three basketball courts, exercise, cardio and aerobic rooms, and a stage. There are also four tastefully furnished gathering spaces, several classrooms, and major office space.

This 62,000-square-foot building is the largest construction project in BBC&S history. It is being completed with a great deal of labor from the in-house Maintenance Department and countless volunteers, allowing it to open debt-free and saving significant cost while providing a high quality facility.

Also, a recent donation of $1.5 million allows for eliminating a construction loan, completing a climbing wall, adding a batting cage, purchasing Precor exercise equipment, boosting the sound system, and finishing landscaping around the building.

A formal dedication of the building will take place at the Celebration on the Summit event on Saturday, October 12. The program will feature a ribbon-cutting and ceremonies.
