LYFE Women's Conference turns focus to 2014

Nearly 800 women attended the LYFE Women's Conference at BBC over two weekends in late May and early June, a powerful time of spiritual refreshment and renewal.

Now in its 31st year, the 2013 event carried the theme "Simply Living: It's More." It included a return appearance by recording artist Dámaris Carbaugh and featured keynote speaker Sherrie Holloway, a dynamic leader, veteran educator, and author. Jeff Smith of Salt and Light Ministries also participated in one of the two weekend programs.

BBC&S"I come for the renewal of spirit and friendships and to reconnect and be energized," said Robin Fields of Medford, NJ. "At the end of the week you can see how everything comes together. It's amazing how God works."

The 2014 LYFE Women's Conference, themed "Breathe," will be held May 29-31 and June 5-7. The keynote speaker will be Christie Lothamer, a BBC alumna and dynamic leader who currently serves in England. Special guests include The Pottery Lady, Carole Wolaver; and comedian Anita Renfroe.

Details will be available at www.bbc.edu/lyfe later this year.

A Strong Impact
The conference, held every summer, inspires women through focused workshops, moving worship times, and powerful speakers.

"I have been coming for 12 years," said Sandia Mumich of Hazleton, PA. "It's a nice time away, to really connect with the people. The workshops and sessions are always great."

First-time attender Goldie Van Horn from Drums, PA, agreed.

"This is my first year, and I have really enjoyed it," she said. "I like the broad-based curriculum for the workshops, and there are a lot of them to choose from."

LYFE, which stands for Living Your Faith Everyday, is led by LYFE Director Diane Lytle. She is joined by a planning team that meets frequently throughout the year.

BBC&SLYFE Scholarship
The weekend conference helps many in attendance refocus and become encouraged and equipped as they return to their homes, families, and ministries. The special time also includes a delightful banquet.

Through profits from the LYFE store and other gifts, attendees help raise money for the LYFE Scholarship fund and build into the lives of BBC students. More than $22,000 in scholarship funds raised at the 2012 conference was awarded to students in April.

The LYFE Scholarship began at the request of attendees who wanted to show their appreciation to BBC. The funds assist women BBC students with a commitment to full-time career ministry and who must work their way through school.
