Spring Day of Prayer focuses on partnership

Students, faculty, and staff members partnered together in prayer Tuesday, February 4 during the Day of Prayer, held twice each year at BBC&S.

The event allowed the campus community to come together to focus on needs on campus, at home, and worldwide. For students, it was a day off from regular classes and an opportunity to relax and fellowship as they prayed and encouraged each other.

"Its a blessing to go to a school where you can take a break from classes and take time to focus on prayer," said Cassie Winkert, a senior Music Education major from Highland, MD.

Partnering in Prayer
Throughout the day, special times were set aside for groups to come together in unique ways.

In the early morning, Student Missions Fellowship held a time to consider and pray for the persecuted church. Students then stayed in their residence halls for breakfast. The time was followed by small group prayer. Faculty and staff members gathered together for a light breakfast and prayer in the Murphy Memorial Library.

Chapel time, which was led by BBC&S Vice President and Provost Dr. Jim Lytle, was followed by prayer in the Phelps Student Center. Faculty and staff members led the group in prayer for students, prospective students, employees, and the leadership of BBC&S.

A Special Encouragement
Through the afternoon, groups of students partnered with faculty and staff members in offices and around campus to pray for individual needs and requests.

"It really was a great encouragement to have students come to my office, gather around me, put their arms on my shoulders, and pray for me—not only as a person but also for my role here at BBC&S," said Mel Walker, Vice President for Enrollment & External Relations.

The day closed with a time of praise in the Jackson Hall Rotunda.
