Winter Concert set to entertain, enlighten

The Winter Concert, a BBC&S Christmas season tradition, is set for three performances on Friday and Saturday, December 14 and 15.

BBC&SThe concerts feature student music groups, including the Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers, as well as solos and ensembles by music students and faculty. Performance will include works of J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. Music from world-renowned American composers Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre are also included.

"This year's concert once again offers the remarkable variety developed over the past years of programming," said Dr. Larry Kauffman, Chair of the BBC Music Department. "In addition to works by the Baroque 'masters,' we are pleased to perform works by several composers who are dominant figures on the international choral scene."

Tickets are $10 each, which includes the dessert reception. Special rates are available for students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Tickets are available online at www.bbc.edu/winterconcert or by calling the Music Department at 570.585.9295.

Special Venue, Special Groups
The Murphy Memorial Library, the venue for the concert, offers unique architecture and acoustics for the musical experience. Performance times are Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. A special dessert reception held in the Rotunda of Jackson Hall for ticket holders begins an hour before each performance.

The Concert Chorale is a 41-voice choir directed by Dr. Larry Kaufman. Dr. David Harris directs the BBC Chamber Singers, a 17-voice ensemble.
