Faculty prepare for fall semester
Faculty members at BBC&S prepared for the kick-off of the fall semester through workshops, prayer, fellowship, and more.
The special "Prep Week" time, August 15-17, was designed to help educators grow mentally, practically, and spiritually for the beginning of classes.
"This is so much more than just going back to school, it is the opportunity to mold a life for Christ," said Associate Professor Sherry Wise.
This extra effort toward preparation reflects the overall effort faculty members put into the education and development of their students.
"BBC&S has a spectacular faculty,"Â said Dr. Jim Lytle, Vice President and Provost. "This is an opportunity for them to hone their skills for the benefit of our students."
Preparing for students
Faculty members enjoyed a picnic lunch Wednesday, August 15 prior to an informational meeting with Dr. Lytle and working groups later in the afternoon.
The following morning, the sounds of voices raised in praise could be heard from the Jackson Hall tower on campus as members gathered together in a traditional time of singing and prayer.
In an act of service, faculty members broke up into groups and tackled a number of campus beautification projects. Jobs included painting in the Kempton Athletic Center, cleaning the Phelps Student Center and Jackson Hall, landscaping, and outdoor cleanup.
"It's a reminder that you're not in this by yourself,"Â said Associate Professor Susan Cagley. "We are on a team. We're doing this together for the glory of God and for the benefit of our students."
