Strong summer sports camp season concludes with Big Blue Soccer

Nearly 800 students participated in sports camps this summer at BBC, a strong season of instruction, competition, and growth.

Led by qualified coaches, staff, and leaders, August included Defender / Lady Defender Soccer Camp for high school students. It was followed by Big Blue Soccer Camp for kids through eighth grade. Defender Basketball, Lady Defender Basketball, and Big Blue Basketball were held earlier in the summer.

For both students and staff, the weeks were impactful.

"I love coming before the season starts because it really gets be up to speed and gives me endurance I don't know how I would get otherwise," said Tianna Belles, a senior at Bloomsburg Christian School in Bloomsburg, PA. "I like being able to try the moves during instruction. I'm afraid to try them in a game, so getting it down here gives me confidence."

BBC&SFor soccer, instruction was led by BBC Women's Head Coach Chris Davis, who was joined by former BBC Coach Roger Jacobs and current BBC Men's Head Coach Sean MacPherson. Campers learned soccer skills on the field and also through chapel and other set-aside times. Coaches and counselors shared testimonies from the Bible, affecting the lives of each camper.

"There is no doubt we wanted to help them to improve in their own skills and understanding of the game of soccer," MacPherson said. "As much as we strive to accomplish that, we also want to encourage them spiritually -- to improve in their understanding of God and His love for them and to challenge them to live lives that are pleasing to Him."
