Video highlights TLC gifts to start churches

A special video showing the impact of donations given by students at Teen Leadership Conference last summer was shown at the 2012 events.

Two church buildings in India were dedicated this year, projects completed with the generous offerings given by teenagers at two TLC weeks. TLC Director and BBC Assistant Professor Dwight Peterson was joined in India by Glenn Amos, former TLC Director and now Pastor at Heritage Baptist Church in Clarks Summit, PA.

The two churches are located in Andhra Pradesh in southeast India.

Nearly 1,000 teens, youth workers, and staff participated in two weeks of TLC in 2012, a powerful time of equipping young leaders for lasting impact. Teens, youth workers, and pastors came together to learn and grow in their Christian faith and were encouraged through fellowship and fun.

Some of those in attendance were among those who contributed more than $13,000 over the two weeks in 2011, gifts that eventually assisted churches in both India and Haiti.

"I was glad to see what I contributed went far," said Eric Hoskins, 15, of Jenison, MI. "This is building the global church. Some causes aren't as worthy as others, but this is a really worthy cause."

The 2012 conferences marked the 44th year for the event, adding to the tens of thousands of lives TLC has shaped and influenced over the decades.

The 2013 conference will be July 22 - 26 and July 29 - August 2. Details will be posted later at www.bbc.edu/tlc.
