Two conference weeks draw nearly 1,000 to campus
Nearly 1,000 teens, youth workers, and staff participated in two weeks of Teen Leadership Conferences at BBC, a powerful time of equipping young leaders for lasting impact. Teens, youth workers, and pastors came together to learn and grow in their Christian faith and were encouraged through fellowship and fun.
"TLC is really awesome because you get to learn about God," said Ben DeJong, 15, of Hudsonville, MI. "I want to spend more quality time in the Word, even when I get home, and get closer to Him. TLC gives me the tools to do that."
The 2012 conferences marked the 44th year for the event, adding to the tens of thousands of lives TLC has shaped and influenced over the decades.
"I like meeting a lot of new people," said Michelle VanStrien, 15, also of Hudsonville, MI. "It's kind of nice to meet people that are a lot like me in the Christian community. I want to get stronger and more confident in my faith and prayer life."
The 2013 conference will be July 22 - 26 and July 29 - August 2. Details will be posted later at www.bbc.edu/tlc.

Ministry veterans from a range of backgrounds were among the featured speakers. This year's presenters include Errol Morgan, Andy Giessman, Dwight Peterson, Glenn Amos, Tony Tice, Ben Wilhite, and Mel Walker.
Workshops took place each afternoon and provided practical, helpful sessions for students' development and ministry. Details on all speakers are online at www.bbc.edu/tlc.
Free time for games, ministries, powerful evening events, and time alone for prayer and reflection were all part of the experience of TLC. It offers a special time of connection for students and youth workers.
"A lot of people wouldn't understand why this is something that teens would want to go to," said Rebecca Somers, a 2012 BBC graduate from Norwich, NY, who served as one of 46 counselors -- all current or former BBC students. "Too often, young people with potential are never given anything to be challenged by and to work with. It's exciting to see them blossom under this. It's really cool and rewarding to be a part of."
Mark Thompson, Pastor of Family Ministries at First Baptist Church of Marilla, NY, agreed.
"TLC is challenging and convicting," he said. "It helps our teens be courageous in their walk with God."
Special Junior High Camp
Before TLC's two weeks, "Boot Camp: Basic Training for Junior HIghers" attracted its largest attendance ever of seventh- and eighth- grade students. The special week was set to help them understand the basics of the Christian faith and build a strong foundation for future growth.
More than 100 junior highers, youth workers, and BBC staff and students participated in the special week-long focus.
Now in its fourth third year, 2013 Boot Camp will be July 15-19. Read more here.
