BBC&S again hosting local benefit race

A two-mile run/walk around the BBC&S campus will once again raise funds for a scholarship honoring a local high school student killed in a April 2010 auto accident.

The second Kristyn E. Kromko Memorial Scholarship Race is set for Saturday, July 21, at 9 a.m., on campus. The first event in 2011 was also held at BBC&S. Organizers worked with BBC Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Show to schedule the event.

The scholarship fund was established by the Kromko family and will benefit a graduating senior from nearby Abington Heights High School. Kristyn's aunt, Ruth Mancuso of Tunkhannock, PA, is the lead coordinator for the run/walk event.

Kristyn would have been a member of the 2012 senior class at Abington Heights. She was 16 when her car crashed on Route 307 in Newton Township. Her 19th birthday would be July 25.

Winning times in 2011 for the run were posted by Sean Burke (11:22) and Steph Lalos (12:44). Leading walk times were logged by Domenic Peters (30:30) and Elena Dedoto (30:02).
