Faculty preparing to make an impact
A special week of fellowship and learning helped BBC&S faculty prepare for the academic year.
Prep Week, held the week before fall semester classes begin, assists faculty members through meetings, sessions, and special events designed to help them make a greater impact in their classrooms.
Throughout the week, workshops and informational sessions provided professors and instructors with valuable skill-building time and necessary information. Topics addressed included the effective use of PowerPoint, collaborative tools for better engaging students, and effective teaching methods.
Faculty as mentors
Faculty members use the week to prepare academically, mentally, and spiritually for the arrival of students. This is a reflection of the overall love and respect shown to students by professors throughout their time at BBC&S.
Professors become mentors and build into the lives of their students. Many stay connected with their students long after graduation.
"It's a good time to refocus, recharge, reunite, and get prepared for the year, " said Faye Moore, Assistant Professor for the Counseling program. "Every workshop was beneficial. They help us get on task and give us insights on how to reach students."
A special week
Words of encouragement from BBC&S President Jim Jeffery to all employees kicked off the week on Monday morning. It was followed by a "Bring and Share" potluck for faculty members and their families that evening.
Voices raised in song could be heard from the Jackson Hall tower Tuesday morning as faculty members gathered for a traditional time of singing and prayer.

Vice President and Provost Dr. Jim Lytle offered the teachers words of encouragement for the beginning of the year. Dr. David Harris led the group in singing hymns.
Fall semester on-campus and online classes begin Monday, August 22.
