What led you to BBC?
Both of my parents attended the school and I knew they had an excellent physical education program as well. I was very interested in that field and BBC seemed like a good fit for me.
How did your BBC education prepare you for your current service?
The physical education department did an excellent job of preparing me. Dr. Chris Davis and Dr. Elaine Brown know everything there is about being quality physical educators and made sure I knew my stuff while I was in the program.
Having a small class size allowed me to really interact with them and get to know them on a personal level. That proved to be so helpful as I was constantly learning from them.
Who or what influenced you the most while studying at BBC?
The relationships I built with my friends and professors were very influential in my life as a student.
What led you into education?
I love kids and I love sports. Being able to mesh them together in the classroom just seemed like a natural fit for me.
What do you like most about your job?
I really love building relationships with my students.
What is your favorite grade to teach?
My favorite grade to teach is eighth. I have an incredible relationship with those kids. I am constantly trying to find ways to weave the Gospel into my teaching.
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking at going back to school for my master's degree in a field related to physical education. Currently, I am looking at UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia. Both of these schools are research-based institutions and have excellent programs in this area of study.
What would you say to someone who was considering the Health & Physical Education major at BBC?
Anyone considering studying HPE at BBC should just go for it. The program is excellent and the professors know everything about that field and do an outstanding job preparing you for teaching.
