Tree lighting, Winter Concert among special Christmas events

BBC&S' annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held on the evening of December 1 in Jackson Hall, renewing an annual tradition and kicking off the holiday season on campus.

The tree, a nine-foot Douglas Fir from Roba's Tree Farm in Dalton, PA, was picked out and brought to campus by Director of Facilities Wayne Stevens. The tree and the rotunda area were decorated by Merran and Ross Janowski.

BBC&S President Jim Jeffery and his wife, Bert, hosted the event as they have for the past nine years. The celebration included carol singing, reading of the Christmas story, and refreshments for those who attended.

The tree is placed by the stairwell in the rotunda, with colorful banners carrying BBC&S "go beyond" theme mixing with evergreen and decorations.

Many areas of campus are decorated with lights, evergreens, and color, including light posts and windows. Offices in Jackson Hall add a festive flair, with trees, lights, ribbons, and garland all around. A special long garland with Christmas balls hangs down through the center of the stairways in the building. Even the Jackson Hall elevator carries a special look, with a Christmas tree in tow for every ride up and down.

Upcoming Christmas events include special Winter Concerts on December 10 and 11. Three concerts - one on Friday night and two on Saturday - feature music and songs to highlight the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
