With a new coach at the helm, the Lady Defenders are looking at change for the 2010-2011 season. Coach Jacobs brings energy and enthusiasm as she takes on this new role. After winning just one conference game and four games overall, BBC is looking up coming into the new season.

The Lady Defenders return eight players from last season's roster but do not return their top two scorers. They will be looking for offensive leadership and balanced scoring through their returners, as well as tough defense by all.

Three players who started at least 10 games for last year's team are returning. Laura Hodupp averaged 7.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last year as the starting point guard. Jessica White is the other starting returner. She averaged 4.5 points and led the team with 6.3 rebounds. Kellie Bernard contributed 3 points and 3 rebounds and shot 43 percent from the field last season.

Coach Jacobs is joined by assistant coaches Josh Workman and Amber Severance. The season starts at home against Penn State - Hazleton on Thursday, November 18.

Men's team starts November 15
After winning two games last season and finishing last in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, the Defenders are looking for improvement.

With six newcomers on the team, the Defenders are young. But they also have leadership in their four seniors who have seen the ups and downs of basketball seasons, going to the NCAA Division III National Tournament their freshman year and finishing last year with only two wins.

Other key returners for BBC are Christian Attlesey who scored 4.6 points per game and got 4.1 rebounds per game, Seth Bernard who averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds, and Ryan Sullivan who scored 10 points per game and grabbed 5.8 rebounds per game in an injury shortened season.
