Special spring event boosts student scholarships

Donors, alumni, trustees, and community leaders raised funds for Baptist Bible College & Seminary student scholarships during a special spring golf event, bringing the six-year total for the annual event to nearly $700,000.
The President's Golf Classic, held on May 24 at the Glen Oak Country Club in Waverly, PA, included participation by 74 golfers.
The money raised plays an important role in keeping higher education accessible. BBC&S cuts the cost of tuition by several thousand dollars each year through such fundraising efforts.
Golfers connected with corporate sponsors, who partnered to raise funds for students. On course skill contests offered the participants a special experience on the greens.
"It's a great event with good comradery," said Carl Danzig, Coach of the University of Scranton's men's basketball team. "I really enjoyed the course. This is a well-run event."

Golf was followed by an awards dinner. On-course and team awards were presented along with 17 drawing prizes including a 40 inch flat-panel television, an iPod touch, a digital camera, a digital photo frame, Blu-ray disc players, and many other items.
"It's for a great cause," said Adam Purdy of Purdy Insurance in Sunbury, PA. "I enjoy the tournament. It's a good way to give something back, and to help students."
