Students preparing for summer missions experiences

More than two dozen Baptist Bible College students will be spending the summer working in out-of-state and overseas missions, gaining hands-on experience in global Christian leadership and service.

Students will be traveling to locations ranging from Chicago, China, and Haiti to Germany, Thailand, and Brazil.

Kristin Geer, a senior from Alexander, NY, will be spending two months in Thailand working with Women At Risk International, a nonprofit organization established to place circles of protection around women at risk, creating safe houses, and rescuing women and children from many abuses.

Kristin will be serving as an intern at The Well, a safe house in Bangkok, Thailand. She will be there from the end-of-June through mid-August.

"The idea is to go and understand better how a safe house is run and how it's connecting into the lives of women and showing them hope, and then to just jump in and be a part of it," she said. "I'm just really excited for God to work in me to continue to learn to see like He does."

Ben Nagel, a senior from Brook, IN, will be working in Israel, serving with a team of college students with Friends of Israel from mid-July through mid-August.

"I am really excited to be going to Israel this summer," he said. "The trip will be spent in Tel Aviv, working in hospitals and other places, helping people and doing various projects. We will be traveling all over to see Jerusalem, the Jordan River, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, the Temple Mount, the Garden of Gethsemane, and Mount Carmel."

Additionally, many other students will be working this summer in their home churches, as well as at camps and with other organizations throughout the summer.
