Allen Dreyer: A Burden for Ministry
Allen Dreyer came to BBC from Kent City, MI. He graduated from the college in 1993 and from Baptist Bible Seminary in 2006.
In his 16 years serving he has filled the roles of Admissions Counselor, Senior Admissions Counselor, Registrar and Assistant Provost.
While here, he met and married his wife Ronda. Later they began their ministry in Fletcher Hall, where Ronda is Residence Hall Director. They have three children: Ashley, Jesse, and Alivia.
He and his family attend Heritage Bapist Church in Clarks Summit where Allen serves as Adult Bible Fellowship leader, nursery worker and part of an outreach team. He has also taught elementary Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, men's Bible studies and membership classes.

What brought you to BBC?
I was challenged by my youth pastor to consider vocational ministry. He and his wife graduated from BBC and encouraged me to come here for college. I saw in them a commitment to God and his word that was very real and meaningful in their lives. That kind of life was attractive to me so I followed the recommendation and came to BBC.
What program were you in? Why ?
I was in the missions program because I felt led by God to dedicate my life to him and I believed at the time that he wanted me to serve him in another country. That same burden for ministry is still alive in me but God has chosen to use it here at BBC and in my local church rather than in another country at this time.
Where did your ministry here on campus begin?
I was hired as a student to work in the admissions office calling prospective students and applicants. When I graduated Mr. Huckaby asked me to stay on full time working for him in the admissions office.
Has there been a highlight of your ministry here so far?
The people. I enjoy working with students, parents, faculty, administration, staff, as well as colleagues in higher education outside of BBC&S.
What has life in a girls' dorm been like for you?
Better than I thought. I was nervous moving into a girls' dorm but Ronda and I were confident that is was what he wanted us to do. Now we know that God made our family to be in a dorm setting. Honestly, I have the easy job in the dorm. Ronda shoulders most of the responsibility. I love serving people and that is what I get to do in the dorm. Over the years God has taught me that my most important role in the dorm is husband and father. When I walk with God and lead our immediate family to walk with him our family is able to have a meaningful ministry with the girls.
What are some your interests and hobbies: what do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy many outdoor activities like fishing, camping, and hiking with family and friends. My main hobby is keeping aquarium fish. I enjoy reading and traveling (especially road trips).
What do you see for your future in ministry?
Walking with God.
