Women's volleyball team hosting special event

digpinkRaising money and attention for breast cancer was the goal of the October 31 event hosted by the BBC Athletic Department and the Women's Volleyball team.

"Dig Pink," a breast cancer awareness rally, was held during the BBC Defenders game with Immaculata University in the Phelps Student Center.

The event, which took place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was organized by the Side-Out Foundation. The group supports breast cancer research through volleyball and fundraising events.

Community members and cancer survivors were invited to come show support. Survivors attending were recognized prior to the game.

Showing support
In recognition and support, BBC team members wore pink t-shirts. Special shirts were provided to Immaculata team members who wanted to show support.

Fans attending the game were encouraged to wear pink in support of the event. Team members also collected sponsorships for a serve-a-thon, which was held during an October practice.

Donations can also be made online here.

The Defenders compete in men's and women's cross country, basketball, soccer, and tennis. They also field teams in baseball, golf, softball and women's volleyball.
