Steps in place to handle H1N1 virus
Baptist Bible College & Seminary has taken several steps to help eliminate the possible spread of the H1N1 virus on campus.
No cases have been reported at BBC&S. Maintaining an environment for students and staff that is safe and healthy is a priority.
Some of the steps taken include:
- Brochure distribution. This describes tips for prevention, H1N1 symptoms, and appropriate responses to a suspected case of the flu.
- Updates to students. Information and reminders about prevention efforts have been given during chapel communication time. Resident Directors have also been asked to consistently encourage students toward diligent hygiene efforts.
- Posters. These have been placed around campus, especially in bathroom facilities, to remind students, staff, and visitors to wash their hands.
Further details are available here.
"We are committed not only to the spiritual growth of our students but also to their health and safety," said Matt Pollock, Dean of Students. "We maintain a high priority on being aware of current health issues and consistently take proactive steps to ensure a healthy community."
BBC&S' food service provider, Pioneer Food Services, also has a plan of action within the food service area. It includes increased efforts toward sanitization, the elimination of self-serve food areas, a poster campaign in the cafeteria, and meal delivery to affected students.
Masks and anti-bacterial soap are on hand, and a generous donation of gloves, masks, isolation units, and hand sanitizer has been made to the school. Registration with the state government has been made for allocation of the flu vaccine as it becomes available.
