Children of the World come to BBC&S

A powerful international children's choir returned to BBC&S for a special, free performance in BBC&S' Phelps Student Center in April.

Children of the World, a choir of young people from Uganda, Nepal, and the Philippines, performed for the first time at BBC&S in 2010. The group travels the nation each year to raise awareness about the needs of children worldwide, including millions who are suffering from the effects of dirty water.

The choir is affiliated with Virginia-based World Help, a nonprofit, humanitarian Christian relief and assistance organization.

The high-energy program included testimonies from the children's experiences. Many are themselves orphans. The children sang songs in both English and native languages. The program also included a video presentation featuring the children's home countries.

Since 2000, the choir's concerts have helped generate sponsors for more than 33,000 children. Each child in the choir is provided a college scholarship, according to World Help.
