Convocation Chapel offers encouragement, guidance
Convocation Chapel marked the opening of a new year, with the special August 25 time offering students, faculty and staff an official welcome back to the Baptist Bible College & Seminary campus and encouragement for the work ahead.
Held annually at the beginning of the fall semester, President Jim Jeffery used the hour for encouragement, introducing the theme: "Next Steps: Living and Serving as Followers of Christ," which will be the focus of his chapel messages in the upcoming year.
Being a disciple of Christ means being a learner, President Jeffery said. He expressed his hope that students have come to campus hungry to learn because the BBC&S faculty is hungry to teach them.
President Jeffery also used the special chapel to charge faculty and staff members to be Godly examples for students, referring to the words of Paul from I Corinthians 11:1 which says, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."

Dr. Lee Kliewer opened the chapel and the school year by drawing everyone together in responsive scripture reading. Dr. David Harris led the assembly in the hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God."
In his welcome remarks, Vice President & Provost Dr. Jim Lytle highlighted some of the exciting changes and advancements coming up, including the Master of Arts degree now offered in Baptist Bible Graduate School.
