Soccer camps cap successful summer
Baptist Bible College's Defender Soccer Camp and Big Blue Soccer Camp drew nearly 300 students and staff during August, ending a successful summer season of sports camps.
With a turnout of over 125 campers for Defender Soccer Camp, there was great instruction and competition. The high school girls were led in the instruction time by Coach Chris Davis and Coach Doug Loescher along with players from BBC's women's soccer team. The boys were lead by Coach John Jackson and players from his men's soccer team.
Coach John Diven worked daily with the goalkeepers improving their skills. Campers were not only challenged on the field with soccer skills, but also challenged off the field in their life skills through the various chapels. Each day, coaches and counselors shared testimonies from the Bible that impacted the lives of each of the campers.
Big Blue Soccer Camp saw a combined 135 campers ranging from kindergarten through third grade in the morning session and fourth to eighth grade in the afternoon session. Through the very warm weather, Coach Chris Davis, Coach John Jackson, and Coach Doug Loescher led the campers in instruction and games while BBC soccer players assisted.
Organizers are looking forward to seeing the same campers next summer, as well as many more new faces. BBC offers six summer sports camps in basketball, soccer, and volleyball for children from kindergarten through high school. The camps foster the growth of physical abilities and sportsmanship, as well as leadership skills and spiritual character.
