Michael Jr. comedy event at BBC&S

Michael Jr., a nationally recognized comedian and entertainer, will be in concert Friday, October 9, at Baptist Bible College & Seminary.

A native of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael's humor has been a hit in churches, prisons, corporate events, and youth rallies. The 8 p.m. concert will be followed by a special fireworks display on campus.

Tickets are $10 each and available online at www.bbc.edu/michaeljr. Clips of his comedy and other details are also on the site.

A special brand of humor
Michael Jr. is equally at home in the heartland and the inner city; churches and prisons; corporate events and youth rallies. He calls it "comedy accountability."

"If I'm in a club, my material has to be clean enough to work in a church," he said. "If I'm in a pulpit, it has to be funny enough to work in a club."

Michael Jr. has performed at major universities, such as Notre Dame and
the University of Alabama, to churches, including 60,000-member Willow Creek Church in Chicago and the 17,000-member West Angeles Church in California.

He has appeared on television programs and networks, ranging from "The Tonight Show" to Comedy Central.

Part of week-long celebration
The concert is part of the week-long "Celebration on the Summit: Framing Our Past, Picturing Our Future" event October 5-10. It features the annual Bible Conference, Alumni Day, and Homecoming and Family Day. Each day is packed full of activities.

Another highlight is groundbreaking for a multi-million dollar expansion of the Phelps Student Center - the Kempton Athletic Center - earlier on Friday, October 9. Named after the late Dr. Wendell Kempton, a benefactor and longtime worker and advocate for the school, this 62,000 square-foot addition will enhance student life and provide new opportunities on campus. It will include a climbing wall, running track, training and weight rooms, and a new stage area.
