Conference fills BBC campus, challenges teens to step up

Nearly 750 high school students and youth leaders filled the Baptist Bible College campus the last two weeks of July, continuing a strong history of equipping offered through the annual Teen Leadership Conferences.

TLC draws students and youth leaders from across the country and region. Those attending came from locations such as Columbus, OH; West Des Moines, IA; Sebring, FL; and Grand Rapids, MI.

The theme of this year's conference was "Step Up," encouraging teens to prepare themselves for God's call to serve. Through a variety of workshops and worship times, the theme was used to challenge teens to accept leadership roles in church, school, and within their peer groups.

Ryan Stehlin of Tonawanda, NY, a teen that attended this year, described what it meant to him this way:

"It has helped me examine myself and make the changes needed to allow God to work in me so I can follow the plans He has for me. TLC will continue to impact me throughout my entire life."

The TLC experience is something teens take with them when they leave. They will share what they have gained with their families and friends, and they will continue to grow from and talk about it for many years.

The 2010 conferences will be held July 19-24 and July 26-31. The theme is "Run to the Battle", challenging teens to boldly share their faith.
