BBC&S President Jim Jeffery encouraged graduates, families, friends, faculty, and staff in attendance at the Phelps Student Center through his commencement address. His message was titled The Faith Prints of Spiritual Leadership. The scripture reference was Hebrews 11:6, 8-19.

President Jeffery focused on how Abraham lived and led by faith and how he models the kind of faith graduates and others need to live and lead for Jesus Christ in the world.

It is by faith students can obey God's call for their lives, adopt God's eternal values, trust God's power in impossible solutions, and pass God's sacrifice test, Jeffery said.

The BBC Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Gordon Mason, performed the prelude, processional, and recessional. The Concert Chorale, directed by Dr. Larry Kauffman, provided special music during the program. The invocation was given by John Greening, Vice Chairman of the BBC&S Board of Trustees.

Those in attendance sang the college hymn, "Holding Fast the Faithful Word" by W.S. Miller.

The event marked the end of a year-long celebration of BBC&S' 75th anniversary.
