CAMPUS LIFE » STUDENT ACTIVITIES » Student Organizations
Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate and further develop leadership abilities in the context of various student organizations. Through these organizations students are both active and influential in the current face and future direction of the College.
Student Leadership Council
The Student Leadership Council is an executive team elected by the student body. One of SLC’s many functions is overseeing the other student organizations. To learn more check out our SLC page.
All students are members of the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class organization. Each class elects an officer team and meets throughout the year during designated chapels. These class chapels are a time for each class to discuss upcoming events and activities, set class goals, brainstorm for class projects, and enjoy worshiping God together.
Class organizations heavily influence life at BBC through their projects and events. The class of 2000 left its mark by transforming an old storage shed into what is now known as the Underground Café. The class of 2010 has been an active force, planning campus-wide events like costumed skating night “Disney on Skates”, concert-event “Bandemonium”, and the technologically-themed “iParty” extravaganza.
Residence hall organizations
On-campus students are also members their residence hall’s organization. Residents elect an officer team to oversee residence hall activities, finances, participation in campus events, and dorm worship sessions. Officers also conduct periodic “dorm meetings” to inform residents of upcoming events and activities, and to discuss future plans.
Residence hall organizations contribute to the campus in a variety of ways. In the past, residence hall’s have organized events like Vibbard’s “Late Skate”, a themed late-night ice-skating excursion, and Christen’s annual Christmas party, famous for its Jello-blow and festive music, snacks, and games. Barndollar’s “Dating Game” provides entertainment for participants and onlookers alike, while Shaffer’s dodge-ball tournament drew contestants from several area colleges last year.
Student Missions Fellowship
The Student Missionary Fellowship (SMF) is an organization that is made up of the entire student body at BBC. SMF is dedicated to instilling Missions majors and non-Missions majors alike with a life-long burden and passion for missions and missionaries. Through regular meetings and activities, SMF seeks both to raise awareness of the extreme importance of missions work, and to consistently pray for the work God is doing through missionaries in various parts of the world.
SMF meets once a week on Mondays at 9 p.m. These meetings are a time where students come together to pray for missionaries and each other, worship God, and hear from people involved in exciting missions work all around the world. SMF also plans unique activities that help students learn more about missions, other cultures, and the various ways that they can be involved with missions right now. If you love the Gospel and a God-centered time, you will love these meetings!
