To be effective in today’s youth culture, a pastor must be equipped with more than a guitar and a pat answer. Young people need godly mentors who will invest in their lives and consistently point them to the Word of God. That’s why we’ve created a program that focuses on the spiritual needs of teenagers and how you, as a youth pastor, can best meet those needs.

The Youth Pastor program will prepare you to be a discipler as well as a teacher. We combine classroom learning with practical ministry opportunities to give you a well-balanced education.

Core courses
We give you a strong foundation to understand and apply biblical truth through 42 hours of Bible and theology courses. A required set of General Studies courses supplements that foundation and enables you to consider the world in which you will minister.

You will then build on this foundation with 40 credit hours studying the specific disciplines of your field and determining how you can best apply your unique strengths, gifts, and abilities. The core courses of this program include the following:

Effective Bible Teaching
Dynamic Learning Experiences
Dynamics of Discipleship
Expository Preaching
Family Life of the Ministry Leader
Greek I, II
Ministry Leadership
Personal Life of the Ministry Leader
Speech (pastoral ministry specific)
Youth Evangelism
Youth Ministry Philosophy
Youth Ministry Seminar
Youth Ministry Strategy

Making the program your own
You will learn from professors who have firsthand experience ministering within youth culture. Our many ministry options will provide immediate opportunities to get involved in the lives of junior and senior high school students.

You will learn to guide youth through the challenges of their teenage years and become a leader they can respect and trust. The Youth Pastor program will prepare you to serve in a church as a youth pastor or in any other youth ministry capacity.

Many options after graduation
You will earn a Bachelor of Science with a major in Youth Pastor. You will graduate having completed coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Youth Pastor. You may elect to receive a B.S. in Bible instead.

You will be qualified to fill other pastoral or missions positions in a church or parachurch ministry, such as, teaching Bible or serving as a discipleship director in a Christian school. Your education in the Youth Pastor program will also prepare you to pursue graduate or seminary-level education.

Mission agencies, such as Association of Baptist for World Evangelism, are seeking youth ministry professionals to be involved in a wide variety of international youth ministries. These include camping, sports, and recreational ministries.

What they say
“The classes taught me about the culture of the students I would be working with and challenged me to be relevant in my teaching and activities. The professors were available for one-on-one interaction, and I still have close friendships with many of them.”
- Sam Burke, BBC graduate, Pastor of Student Ministries at Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo, IN

“BBC's Youth Pastor program is preparing me for the future by supplying me with practical, biblical knowledge to apply to my personal life and ministry. I appreciate that the faculty and staff are willing to take the time to encourage and mentor me as I prepare for a future ministry with youth.”
- Zack Dawson, BBC student
