If God is calling you into full-time pastoral ministry, one of the most important decisions you will make is where you will acquire the best education. It is vital you seek a school that is committed to solid biblical and theological instruction.

We will prepare you for pastoral ministry by developing your character, competency, and commitment. Specific courses stress the growth of godly character, the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in the pastorate, and the stewardship of God’s calling in your life.

Our faculty stands out as a group of well qualified, dynamic teachers with a passion for preparing men for pastoral ministries. With over 150 years of combined experience, they have done more than teach pastoral ministries; they’ve lived it. As they continue their own local church ministries, they often provide opportunities for students to serve alongside them. The team of men teaching in this program is committed to pouring themselves into the lives of their students through discipleship and mentoring.

Core courses
We give you a strong foundation to understand and apply biblical truth through 42 hours of Bible and theology courses. A required set of General Studies courses supplements that foundation and enables you to consider the world in which you will minister.

You will then build on this foundation with 40 credit hours studying the specific disciplines of your field and determining how you can best apply your unique strengths, gifts, and abilities. The core courses of this program include the following:

Church Evangelism Strategies
Dynamics of Discipleship
Education Ministries of the Church
Expository and Advanced Expository Preaching
Family Life of the Ministry Leader
Greek I, II, III, IV
Ministry Leadership
Pastoral Counseling
Pastoral Seminar
Personal Life of the Ministry Leader

Making the program your own
You will be required to complete seven units of course-related practical ministry. Two will be in evangelism related ministries and one will be in Bible teaching. The Advanced Expository Preaching course requires you to preach in a local church. You will also be encouraged to earn academic credit in a summer apprenticeship program.

As students move into advanced classes, the student-to-teacher ratio becomes even smaller, offering a greater degree of personal attention and individual instruction.

You will earn a Bachelor of Science with a major in Pastoral Ministries. You will graduate having completed coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Pastoral Ministries. You may elect to receive a B.S. in Bible instead.

"I know God wants me to give my life to two things specifically: publicly communicating the gospel and leadership development. Those are concrete, and I will do those two things until I die."
- Dan Nichols

Many options after graduation
The program will ground you in the truths of the Word of God. A combination of challenging coursework, faculty mentorship and ministry experience equips you to teach, disciple, and counsel from a biblical worldview. Some graduates immediately step into full-time ministry as youth or associate pastors.

BBC is recognized as one of the top ministry schools in the country and our graduates are in high demand. Many churches that have worked with an interning BBC student have called our graduates to serve as full-time staff.

Your strong foundation in theology, ministry principles, and church leadership will prepare you for the next level of academic study as you pursue God’s calling upon your life. The majority of graduates enter pastoral or church planting programs at seminaries across the country. Our students have attended seminaries such as Baptist Bible Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, The Master’s Seminary, Biblical Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids Seminary, Southern Baptist Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Seminary.

What they say
“BBC is an institution that is serious about training ministry leaders. My preaching and pastoral counseling classes have been thorough and effective in equipping me for ministry. These classes were practical and taught me how to open the Word and effectively teach others, much like what Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:15. The professors exemplify what we discuss in class. They are diligently serving the Lord and that touches the lives of everyone they meet. BBC is a place where you will be equipped with skills to take into ministry for life.”
Stefan Biggs, BBC graduate

“The pastoral program at BBC offers the right balance of instruction in theology, original biblical languages, counseling, and preaching. I learned effective ministry concepts from faculty members who genuinely believe and live what they are teaching. I gained invaluable life lessons from their experiences.”
- Andy Tritt, BBC graduate, BBS student and intern at Community Baptist Church, Carlisle, PA
