Women's Ministries

Today’s woman faces numerous challenges. Some face daily persecution in oppressive cultures. Others are trying to juggle the many responsibilities of work, home, and community. Around the world, there are women dealing with the hurt of broken relationships or abusive pasts.

But whether it’s a single mom from the inner city in the United States trying to protect her children from gangs or a mother in Africa trying to protect her children from AIDS, all women have a common need. They need a Savior—a heavenly Father with Whom they can have a loving, growing relationship.

The Women’s Ministries program at BBC prepares women to minister to other women in a variety of settings, including the local church, the mission field, and educational and counseling venues. Whether you serve in America or overseas, we can equip you to reach the hearts of women with the good news of Jesus Christ.

One of the top features of the program is the opportunity to study under a faculty that has a wide-range of experience in women’s ministries. The professors will provide you with challenging classroom instruction and a strong model of active leadership in women’s ministries. Our alumni consistently testify that this combination produces a passion for both the subject material and the Word of God.

Hands-on ministry experience begins long before you graduate. You will have the opportunity to serve in a variety of local ministries including regional church plants, local churches, and campus ministries. The program requires students to complete seven ministry units, two of which must be completed in a church-based educational setting and at least two of which must be earned in a Titus 2 situation in which the student is an apprentice of an older woman actively engaged in ministry. Through the personal commitment provided in this mentoring relationship, you will build a critical foundation for effective future ministry leadership.

Core Courses in the Women's Ministries Program

BBC gives you a strong foundation to understand and apply biblical truth through 42 hours of Bible and theology courses. A required set of General Studies courses supplement that foundation by enabling you to consider the world in which you will minister. You will then build upon this foundation as you complete over 40 credit hours, studying the specific disciplines of your field and determining how you can best apply your unique strengths, gifts, and abilities. The core courses of this program include the following:

  • Ministry Communication for Women
  • Women in Christian Ministries
  • Ministry of Marriage and Motherhood
  • Women Counseling Women

Students in the Women’s Ministries program may choose to develop a specific focus in one of several areas including:

  • Youth ministry
  • Missions
  • Education
  • Counseling
  • Music
  • Office professionals

What Happens After Graduation?

PhotoUpon completion of the program, graduates will have completed the coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Women’s Ministries and will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Bible.

Graduates have a wide spectrum of ministry opportunities. Local churches are in need of full-time and lay leaders to direct evangelism, discipleship, youth, and counseling ministries designed specifically for women. Graduates are ideally trained to serve through Christian ministries that meet both societal and spiritual needs such as educational abstinence programs, crisis pregnancy centers, battered women’s shelters, and addiction recovery facilities. Many graduates are serving in the U.S. and overseas in full-time missions or educational settings.

The Women’s Ministries program also prepares students for further study at the graduate level. Graduates are well-equipped to pursue degrees in counseling, education, and organizational leadership at a variety of graduate schools.

Real People

“I have really appreciated the way the professors have taken an interest in me personally. I know they pray for me and that is a HUGE encouragement and blessing in my life. What I most enjoy about the program is being able to tailor it to my desires, needs, gifts, and calling. The freedom students have to make the program fit what they need as God leads each of them individually in ministry is a big strength of the program.”

Jessica Minniear, BBC Student

“One of the greatest benefits I received from the women’s ministry program was shadowing a director of women’s ministries at a local church. From this experience, I was better able to identify my gifts, weaknesses, desires, and goals as it related to this area of ministry. This specialized opportunity was a tool that guided me as I made decisions for full-time ministry.”

Jen Srail, BBC Graduate, Women’s Discipleship, Maranatha Bible Church, OH

“The courses gave me the confidence to counsel and teach women. My mentor took time to counsel me when I was dealing with personal issues. She was a godly example while she was going through medical issues. Most importantly, she inspired me to seek after God with passion.”

– Kate Estes, BBC Graduate, Pastor’s Wife, Calvary Baptist Church, Pulaski, NY
