Science Education Program
 |
The study of science cannot be separated from the study of its Creator. At Baptist Bible College, we offer you a Science Education program that not only provides cutting edge information and technology, but also teaches you how to study science from a biblical perspective.
As a science teacher, you will be in a unique position to influence the lives of students as you shape their thinking on the physical world around them. Therefore, it is essential that you receive an education that will challenge and strengthen your own biblical worldview and prepare you to be an effective science teacher. BBC is the ideal place to study science education because our faculty integrates the spiritual with the academic development of our students. Preparing the next generation of ministry leaders means that our Science Education program offers top-level, Bible-based instruction as well as important practical experience through classroom aiding, observing, and student teaching.
Once you have completed this program, you will have the academic knowledge and the practical experience necessary to be a successful science teacher. After studying science in the light of Scripture, you will have the privilege of sharing that knowledge with others. |

Core Courses in the Science Education Program
BBC gives you a strong foundation to understand and apply biblical truth through 42 hours of Bible and theology courses. A required set of General Studies courses supplement that foundation by enabling you to consider the world in which you will minister. You will then build upon this foundation as you complete over 40 credit hours, studying the specific disciplines of your field and determining how you can best apply your unique strengths, gifts, and abilities. The core courses of this program include the following:
Teaching Science in Secondary Schools
Biology
College Math II
Human Anatomy and Physiology
Geology
Chemistry I and II
Astronomy
Physics I and II
Genetics
Biotechnology
Meteorology
Understanding Science
Organic Chemistry / Biochemistry
What Happens After Graduation?

Upon completion of the program graduates will have completed coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Science Education, and will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Bible.
You will receive certification from the Association of Christian Schools International to teach Science in Grades 7-12. You will also be eligible to apply for Pennsylvania state certification, which will allow you to teach in public schools.
The state of Pennsylvania shares certification reciprocity with nearly every state, so you will most likely be able to teach in the state of your choice.
The Science Education program also prepares graduates for the next step in their academic careers. Many graduates pursue master’s and doctorate degrees immediately following graduation or shortly thereafter. Some graduates have chosen to pursue their studies in one of seven programs offered in Christian School Education at Baptist Bible Graduate School. Other graduates have attended various graduate schools to study a wide range of educational programs including administration, curriculum and instruction.
