Pastoral Ministry Program

If God is calling you into full-time pastoral ministry, one of the most important decisions you will make is where to go for the best education. As you consider where to study, it is crucial that you seek a school that is committed to solid biblical and theological instruction. In addition, experienced, well-qualified faculty are essential, hands-on application is critical, and a campus environment that is dedicated to equipping full-time ministry leaders is vital. Where can you go to receive such ideal preparation? At Baptist Bible College, we can provide you with an excellent education designed to prepare you to be an effective pastor who will influence people for Christ.

The purpose of BBC’s Pastoral Ministry program is to prepare men for pastoral ministry by developing their character, competency, and commitment. Specific courses stress the growth of godly character, the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in the pastorate, and the stewardship of God’s calling in each student’s life.

The Pastoral Ministry faculty stands out as a group of well qualified, dynamic teachers with a passion for preparing men for pastoral ministry. With over 150 years of combined experience, our faculty members have done more than teach pastoral ministry; they’ve lived it! As they continue their own local church ministries, they often provide opportunities for students to serve alongside them. The team of men teaching in this program is committed to giving of themselves and pouring into the lives of their students through discipleship and mentoring. As students move into advanced classes, the student-to-teacher ratio becomes even smaller, offering a greater degree of personal attention and individual instruction.

Every student is required to complete seven units of course-related practical ministry, two of which must be in evangelism related ministries and one in Bible teaching. Those in the Advanced Expository Preaching course are required to preach in a local church.  Students are also encouraged to participate in a summer apprenticeship program through which they can earn academic credit.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will have completed coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Pastoral Ministry and will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Bible.

The program produces pastoral leaders who are first and foremost grounded in the truths of the Word of God. A combination of challenging coursework, faculty mentorship, and ministry experience equips you to teach, disciple, and counsel from a biblical worldview. Some graduates immediately step into full-time ministry as youth or associate pastors. Our graduates are in high demand because BBC is known as one of the top ministry schools in the country. Many churches have called our graduates to serve as full-time staff after working with the student as an intern or ministry volunteer during their time at BBC.

A strong foundation in theology, ministry principles, and church leadership will prepare you for the next level of academic study as you pursue God’s calling upon your life. The majority of graduates enter pastoral or church planting programs at seminaries across the country. Our students have attended seminaries such as Baptist Bible Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, The Masters Seminary, Biblical Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids Seminary, Southern Baptist Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Seminary.

Real People

"BBC is an institution that is serious about training ministry leaders. My preaching and pastoral counseling classes have been thorough and effective in equipping me for ministry. These classes were practical and taught me how to open the Word and effectively teach others, much like what Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:15. The professors exemplify what we discuss in class. They are diligently serving the Lord and that touches the lives of everyone they meet. BBC is a place where you will be equipped with skills to take into ministry for life.”

Stefan Biggs, BBC Student

"The pastoral program at BBC offers the right balance of instruction in theology, original biblical languages, counseling, and preaching. I learned effective ministry concepts from faculty members who genuinely believe and live what they are teaching. I gained invaluable life lessons from their experiences. ”

– Andy Tritt, BBC alumnus, BBS student, Intern, Community Baptist Church, Carlisle, PA
