If you’re like a lot of students, you may be anticipating your college decision with some uncertainty because you’re not sure what the future holds. You may be wondering if God is calling you into full-time ministry or into another career field, or perhaps you know He wants you in full-time ministry, but you don’t know exactly where or how God wants you to serve. At Baptist Bible College, we understand the importance of the decisions that you are making at this critical time in your life. The General Education program provides you with the opportunity to move forward in your academic career while maintaining the flexibility to be open to where God may lead you.
The General Education program will provide you with courses to build your foundation in biblical truth and allow you to understand the world in which you will minister that truth. You will gain broad exposure to the arts and sciences along with a critical foundation in Bible study, theology, and history. You will benefit from an education that is administered by godly faculty members—men and women who are dedicated to helping their students achieve their academic goals, develop their intellectual abilities, and grow more like Christ.
Not only will you develop a biblical worldview in the classroom, but you will also have the chance to apply your knowledge and passion for God in real-life ministry settings. The General Education program requires the completion of at least three ministry units. Many general education students have found that their ministry experiences played a key role in determining the Lord’s calling on their life. You can become involved in local church ministries such as Sunday school, AWANA, youth work, children’s church, visitation, music ministries, and preaching. Other organizations which offer opportunities for ministry include nursing homes, county jails, the state hospital, a home for mentally handicapped, and nearby college campuses. For those with musical abilities, the Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Wind Ensemble, and Gospel teams frequently minister in local churches.
At such a critical juncture in your life, there is no better place than BBC to grow in your relationship with the One who holds your future. You’ll be encouraged to know Him more through daily chapel services. You’ll be strengthened to trust Him more by classmates and peers who are living examples of His power and provision. You’ll be inspired to discover God’s plan for your life at a school where you’ll be challenged to pursue ministry as a first option rather than a last resort.
