Elementary Education Program
 |
Educating the next generation of students is a huge task, and our world is in desperate need of teachers who will provide a biblical foundation for those students. If you want to dedicate your time and energy to making a difference for Christ in the elementary classroom, keep reading!
The need is great, and so is the responsibility. Baptist Bible College’s Elementary Education program will equip you with both practical teaching skills and biblical knowledge so you will be prepared to make a difference and be a light for Christ among young students.
In the Elementary Education program, experts in the field will guide you through the process of learning content, applying knowledge, and gaining experience. Through student aiding and observing, student teaching, and community ministries, you will have many opportunities to use and improve your teaching skills.

Core Courses in the Elementary Education Program
BBC gives you a strong foundation to think through what truth you will communicate as you complete 42 credit hours of Bible and theology courses. A required set of General Studies courses supplement that foundation by enabling you to consider the world in which you will minister. You will then build upon this foundation as you complete over 40 credit hours studying the specific disciplines of your field and determining how you can best apply your unique strengths, gifts, and abilities. The core courses of this program include the following:
Teaching Physical Education in Elementary Schools
Teaching Science in Elementary Schools
Teaching Social Studies in Elementary Schools
Field Experience in Elementary Education
Teaching Music and Art in Elementary Schools
Teaching Children’s Literature in Elementary Schools
Teaching Language Arts in Elementary Schools
Teaching Reading in Elementary Schools
Reading in the Content Areas
Educating Exceptional Children
Teaching Math in Elementary Schools
What Happens After Graduation?

Upon completion of the program graduates will have completed coursework equivalent to a double major in Bible and Elementary Education and will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Bible. Completing the Elementary Education program will qualify you to teach grades K-6 or to work in other various positions in daycares, preschools, or elementary schools.
You will receive certification from the Association of Christian Schools International and will also be eligible to apply for Pennsylvania state certification which will allow you to teach in public schools.
The state of Pennsylvania shares certification reciprocity with nearly every state so you will most likely be able to teach in the state of your choice.
The Elementary Education program also prepares graduates for the next step in their academic careers. Many graduates pursue master’s and doctoral degrees immediately following graduation or shortly thereafter. Some graduates have chosen to pursue their studies in one of seven programs offered in Christian School Education at BBC’s Graduate School. Other graduates have attended various graduate schools to study a wide range of educational programs including Administration and Curriculum and Instruction.
