October 2013 Update

Richard & Julia Rudolph  (2007)

August was a month to remember for us. God has continued to allow us to reap fruit through living in our city with Gospel intentionality. Opportunities to disciple and share God’s work in our lives and in the world continue to grow.

One of the great joys we've experienced this month is seeing our relationships deepen with people in our church. This is happened as a result of meeting with some of them regularly to study God’s Word. Julia is meeting with one young woman who is 21 and has a desire to learn about the Bible. Julia continues to explain the gospel to her as they tackle questions like, “How can we know when we are right with God?” Please pray that the Holy Spirit would make the truth clear to her and that she'd become a believer. I've had a great time meeting some of the men in our church regularly. Many of them have never read the Bible for themselves and are infants in their faith. It is awesome to see their desire to now take the Gospel to their coworkers and friends. Pray that we see God do great things through their growth.
Another great joy we've had so far is the multiple opportunities to meet with unbelievers who want to get together and talk about issues of faith. A young man, who has come about 4 times to our church, is also a neighbor of ours. We do not believe he is a Christian, but he agreed to meet with me as well as his friend Anton who has many questions about Jesus and the Bible. We have met one time so far for 2 hours and they would like to continue to meet. Anton leaves in one month to serve in the army so please pray that he would come to understand the truth we know can change his life.
Another way we've connected to those in our city is by making an effort to shop at the same places, walk to the same places and get coffee at the same places. All of this has led to some amazing bridges being built into their lives. One of these relationships is with our bank teller. This last week we were talking and he asked me if I would like to get together with him for lunch of coffee. It's actually been an advantage for us as Americans here because many are interested in our culture which opens doors to spending time with them. We should be getting together next week, so please pray for him. His name is Thomas.

Thank you again for your prayers. We covet them so much, and we believe they are the power behind many of these God-opportunities. With the many great things we are seeing God do, there are also always other obstacles that could let discourage us but we know this is where prayer also comes in hand! We have to remember that it is God who gives the growth, and we are just called to sow the seeds and water the plants. We feel so blessed to be a part of what God is doing. Please continue to cry out with us for the salvation of many in this city!

Prayers Answered:
- We believe that our language continues to progress, but you would have to ask a German :)
- God has allowed unbelievers to attend our church every month.
- We are having opportunities to share the Gospel with unbelievers

Prayer Request: (would you take 5 minutes a day to pray for)
- That we would see 5 unbeliever spouses come to know Christ, as well as, David, Anton, Thomas, & Kevin.
- That the people being disciples would be leaders and disciple others.
- That our language school would progress our language ability.
- That our relationship with Christ would continue to deepen.

It is awesome to see how God uses our internship program. Pictured below is an intern we had from Brazil. He is now back in Brazil and is active in the Great Commission. One of the last days he had here, was at the wedding we are pictured in. It was there he expressed to me what an impact his time in Germany had on him. He is studying to be a lawyer and desires to play an active role in his church.
