August 2013 Update

Mobile Clinics
A Christian businessman here in Lima reconditioned a truck he uses for advertising and donated it to the pregnancy care and mobile clinic ministries. Several local dentists from our churches frequently volunteer at the clinics, so we installed a fully equipped dental chair. The truck also holds an examining table and our “pharmacy” along one wall. What a wonderful blessing and a great resource to enhance this evangelistic outreach!

We recently finished another week of mobile clinics with a medical team from the States and our new truck. In 6 days we saw 500 patients and 68 people accepted Christ as their Savior!

Seminary/Bible College
Please continue to pray with us that God will guide in the process of selling mission property and purchasing a new building in downtown Lima for our seminary. This is an amazing opportunity to create a resource and training center for our churches throughout the city.

The Living Hope Baptist Church continues to meet in a daycare where we are often short on space. In spite of limited facilities we have received several new members and are planning a baptism. The church now supports a full-time Peruvian pastor. We believe the time has come to move on to a new church planting ministry. As difficult as it is to leave a church family where we have invested our lives over the last seven years, we rejoice in the work God has done and trust Him to continue growing His church.

Furlough October-February
One of the reasons we believe this is the right moment for a transition is that we’re due for a five-month “furlough” in the States. As we mentioned in an earlier letter, the visa situation is a bit complicated here. We’ve been able to renew our visas so far, but there is still a degree of uncertainty. If we are out of the country for longer than 6 months, we loose our visas and have to apply for new ones. Therefore we’re taking shorter furloughs.

We haven’t been back to some of our supporting churches for more than three years and we are looking for opportunities to visit new churches that might consider supporting us. We have several meetings scheduled and are looking for opportunities to share in new churches. Every furlough is an opportunity to see God provide! This time we need to raise over $1,000 in monthly support. It’s been amazing to see God provide lately in such a way that we haven’t dipped into the red.

Please pray with us that God will provide new church and individual supporters to help us get back to Peru in February!
