April 2013 Update
Chaz & Kari Dull (2000)
Greetings from Loja!
Wow! We had a wonderful time with the missions team that came down from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa and saw the Lord work through them in amazing ways while they were here! They had the opportunity to spend their first weekend in Cuenca, Ecuador working with a national church there whose Pastor and family are friends of ours. Chaz and Bill, along with some of the missionary kids, met up with the team at the airport in Cuenca and spent the weekend with them there as they were involved in ministries. Following the two Sunday morning services in Cuenca they made the trip to Loja (3 hours) and kicked off their time here at our Sunday evening service, sharing testimonies and leading the children's class.
The rest of the week they did a variety of ministries. They went to all of the regular Bible studies that are held throughout the week, getting to know the nationals and the people that we study with, saved and unsaved. One afternoon they held a soccer competition activity with over 60 kids that are part of a organized soccer school here in the city. They had 2 evenings of basketball ministry and outreach, fortifying relationships with some of our contacts and as a result of this one family attended the Sunday evening service while the group was here! The team also held a three day Kid's Club at a public park where they did games, crafts, and a Bible story, ministering not only to the children from our Sunday evening group, but also many from the park whom we had never met. We had opportunity to meet various parents, and there was interest on the part of many that we come back on a regular basis. God laid it on the hearts of two nationals to continue on with this ministry, with our help, on the first Saturday afternoon of every month. We will start that up in May. Praise the Lord! How encouraging that as the team ministered, the people here realized that they could carry on some of these same types of ministries as a way to meet people in the community.
The team also made a visit to an orphanage in town and were able to play games with the girls there, as well as pass out some special treats! We are welcome to go back to the orphanage, and the week following the team's time here, we had an activity at Gabriella's school. Several of the girls came up to us there, hugging us and thanking us for having gone to their 'home'. They want us to go back! Please pray that we can work out a time and plan with the orphanage and that they would be open to us teaching the Word there as well.
The team finished up there time here at our Sunday evening service, once again sharing their testimonies and leading the children's class. They were such an encouragement to the small group of believers that meet on Sunday's.
Not only did the team, consisting of Chris and Karen Davis (team leaders), Jake and Logan (BBC students), Joanna (alumni of BBC) and Ruthie (former student at BBC), minister and impact the lives of the Ecuadorians, they also ministered to us, the missionaries, and our families. What a huge encouragement they were to us and we were blessed by their being here! Our children are still talking about the time they had with them and miss the team very much! They will likely never know the impact they have had on some pretty special missionary kids!
Thank you for your prayers for the team and for their ministry while they were here. God deserves all the honor and the glory for everything that was accomplished in and through the team. He is worthy of our praise!
