ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

March 2013 Update

Steve & Jan Wivell  (1970)

Dear Prayer Partners,

We minister on a regular basis in 3 churches. Here is a short report of what the Lord is doing: FAITH BAPTIST CHURCH: Our Christmas outreaches brought many visitors who heard the gospel. Since then we have had an increase in attendance. We are getting ready for an Easter
outreach. Our young adults are finding romance so the church has had 2 weddings in the past year and one more is scheduled soon. Six from our church are students at the Bible college. OPEN DOOR BAPTIST CHURCH: Our family served with another missionary family to plant
this church in the '90s. It has been without a pastor for about 3 years. This is an example of the difficulty in finding men called and trained for the pastorate here. Stephen does occasional pulpit supply for the church. We are pleased to report that a pastoral candidate from another state is
coming in March. We trust the Lord will lead him to become the shepherd there. Two from here are students at Victoria Baptist Bible College. THE WAY BAPTIST CHURCH: This is an Arabic speaking church but Stephen preaches here once a month through an interpreter. The church is
about 4 years old but is growing very fast. We enjoy seven students at the college from this church. VICTORIA BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE
We have been praying and waiting on the Lord for many years that we could relocate the college to the eastern suburbs. January 19 was the day it happened!! The Lord gave pleasant weather and many volunteer workers to help us with this huge job. Amazingly, everything fit into the two
rented trucks. Anyone who has moved to another home knows that moving day is just part of the work in relocating! SOME of the boxes have been unpacked since then but it is an ongoing task. The new desks are in place, the air-conditioning/heater units have been installed and about half of the library books are on the shelves. We have a few volunteers who come in on Tuesdays to help us with the library work. With unpacked boxes around the perimeter of the rooms, classes began on February 11 with 25 student enrolled. Stephen is teaching 3 classes and there are two other lecturers helping with the teaching load this semester. The college board of directors had their first meeting of the year on February 2. They have started a search to hire an assistant administrator to help Jan and I with the administration work. PRAISE for the new location of the Bible college and for the students enrolled this year. PRAYER for the pastoral candidate at Open Door Baptist Church and for the search to hire an
assistant administrator for the college.

In Christ,
Stephen and Jan Wivell
