ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

December 2012 Update

Pedro & Stephanie Garcia  (2002)

Dear Friends,

There has been only one Christmas – the rest are anniversaries. -W.J. Cameron

As this special “anniversary” of the birth of our Savior approaches, we are reminded anew of God’s abundant blessings and care for each of us. Personally, we are astounded as a family that this year of furlough ministry has slipped us by and that departure is just around the corner. Yet as we reflect on all that God has allowed us to experience in 2012, we can only give thanks and sing with the carol of, “the glories of His righteousness and wonder of His love!” (Joy to the World, verse 4)

These final months of the year have held some significant milestones for our family.

In November, Pedro had the privilege of presenting his doctrinal statement to a group of pastors at our home church in Michigan and undergoing an ordination examination. He was unanimously approved and First Baptist Church of Lapeer held an ordination ceremony which was a blessing to us. We want to say a special thank you to Pastor Crabb and Pastor Shannon for their work behind the scenes to make this happen, and to our church family in Lapeer for their consistent encouragement and also their generous gift towards study materials for Pedro and the ministry in Iquique.

Another very special milestone took place in the life of our oldest daughter, Eva. With the Lord’s help she conquered her fears, shared her testimony and was baptized in front of members of our second “home” church, Faith Baptist in Wilmington, Delaware. To make the occasion even more memorable, both her Daddy and Pop-Pop were with her in the baptistery and her cousin Micah Rubin was baptized on the same day. We praise God for working in Eva’s heart and covet your prayers for the Holy Spirit’s continued ministry in the hearts of all of our children.

The day of Eva’s baptism, we received yet another amazing gift as Pedro was given a beautiful euphonium horn of his very own. This is the instrument he studied throughout college and he is enjoying playing it this month with the Christmas orchestra at Faith. We ask for your prayers that God will use this as yet another tool for ministry as we return to Iquique, possibly as an entrance into community schools.

Please continue to pray for a future crisis pregnancy ministry in Iquique. This week we had the privilege of meeting via Skype with the president of Life Matters Worldwide and strategizing together. It is our desire and prayer to be used of God in any way He sees fit to bring His message of salvation into the lives of others. Pray that we will recognize His timing and leading.

Finally, we do ask your prayers for the details of packing and getting “home” to Chile. It is overwhelming and there are moments of sadness but we are truly excited to return!

Thank you and Merry Christmas! -
